Oxygen Dissociation Curve Right Shift Mnemonic: CABET

🧠 What this helps you remember

This mnemonic helps you remember the factors that cause a shift to the right of the oxygen dissociation curve.

These include increased altitude, acidosis (decreased pH), increased CO2, increased 2,3-BPG or 2,3-DPG, exercise, and increased temperature.

A right shift means lower affinity of hemoglobin for oxygen, so more oxygen is released to tissues.

✨ The mnemonic

If you have a CABET, the RIGHT thing to do is LET GO.

🤮 CABET is KABIT, THIRD PARTY, MISTRESS, etc. Pwe. Eew. Haha. 🤮

🎯 Memory Triggers

Altitude Acidosis CO2 2,3-BPG Exercise Temperature RIGHT = LET GO
