Hi! Thank you for your kind words. I’m grateful to the LORD that He has been using our free resources to help you with your studies.
I appreciate your desire to excel academically while giving your all to Jesus.
First, I want you to remember that your studies are also an opportunity to serve and glorify the LORD.
Colossians 3:23 reminds us to work wholeheartedly, as for the LORD and not for people.
So yes, as Christians, we should pursue excellence. We should take our responsibilities seriously, study diligently, develop our abilities, and be faithful with the opportunities God has entrusted to us.
But here’s an important distinction: Pursuing excellence is not the same as achieving perfect results.
You can be genuinely diligent and still struggle with a subject. You can prepare responsibly and still receive a disappointing grade. That doesn’t automatically mean you’ve been unfaithful to God.
And there’s nothing wrong with wanting to maintain excellent grades, especially since you’re a scholar. Your scholarship is a responsibility worth taking seriously.
However, remember that your academic achievements are not what make you worthy before God. Our salvation is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, not by our works (Ephesians 2:8–10).
Now, when it comes to studying, I would encourage you to think not only about how much time you’re spending, but also how effectively you’re learning.
For example, are you actually understanding and recalling what you’ve studied, or are you mostly rereading your notes? Are you learning from your mistakes? Are you allowing yourself enough rest to study with a clear mind?
These are important things to consider because diligence isn’t simply about studying longer. It’s also about using the time and abilities God has given us wisely.
And please remember that your relationship with the LORD isn’t separate from your responsibilities as a student. You can honor Him in the ordinary work of attending classes, preparing for exams, being honest in your academic work, and treating others with kindness.
Study faithfully, pursue excellence, and entrust the results to the LORD.
God bless you! May the LORD continue to give you wisdom and guide you as you prepare for your future profession.
